So today is the first day that I've actually had time to do the things that I want to. Or at least it feels like it.
So...

Finally- My OP Tour Experience!

Hello again, everyone! I am here to tell you a little story today. One of magic, and dancing, and dreams coming true; Something of a real-life fairytale, if you will. It all began on November 12, 2009 around 3:00 pm...

It was a day like any other- The sun was shining, the birds were chirping... But three girls- Ann, Amanda, and Samantha- were anxiously sitting in their APUSH class, awaiting the arrival of the hour of 3. It was at this time that the three friends would embark on their journey to the OP Presents Tour, featuring several of their favorite bands: VersaEmerge, A Rocket to the Moon, the Maine, Cobra Starship, and Boys Like Girls.

When the hour finally arrived, the girls bid their classmates adeui, ran down the hallways, jumped into Samantha's car, drove to Amanda's house, stopped to try to save a cute kitten, laughed at Amanda as she chased the kitten as it ran away from her, changed, got in Amanda's mom's Suburban, and headed to Expo 5 in Louisville, Kentucky. The car ride there was dominated by the beateous beats of Cobra Starship's Hot Mess, as Samantha was foreign to the ways of the Cobra. Actually, Samantha was rather foreign to the ways of all the bands with the exception of the Boys Like Girls and the Maine. But it was okay- She liked rap and Lil Wayne and didn't like boys in skinny jeans. So upon making a pact that all hot guys in skinny jeans that hit on Samantha would be sent to Ann and Amanda, and all hot gangsta boys that hit on Ann or Amanda would be sent to Samantha, the three girls danced as equals to "Living in the Sky with Diamonds."

After taking various alternate routes as to avoid traffic, the three girls and Amanda's mother finally arrived at the glorious venue.

Erm, well, what they hoped would turn out to be a glorious venue. The venue resembling that of a tin can, Amanda entered first with VersaEmerge Early Entry, leaving Ann and Samantha to wait in line outside in the freezing cold. After a while, though, Ann received a phone call from her dear friend, Amanda.
"Ann?"
"Yeah..."
"I just met Gabe Saporta."
...
"WHAT??!!??!!??!!"

And so it was. Amanda had met Ann's most dearly beloved male human being on the planet. And Ann hated her. Well, not really, but she was extremely jealous. You see, dear reader, this day was to be the third time that Ann and Amanda had seen Cobra Starship in the couse of a year. This is an extreme feat for Ann. The problem, dear reader, is that Gabriel Eduardo Saporta had evaded Ann and Amanda the first two times that they had seen him in concert. Ann wanted more than anything just to meet her love and hero in all of his crotch-dancing glory, but it had yet to happen. Little Ann could only hope that her night would end with a hug from him.

Finally, the time came for the doors to open. Ann ran to the VersaEmerge merch table, where she bought a super sweet VE shirt with a blue lion, and this rad bracelet:

After gaining their merchandise, the two girls ran to the bathroom which, of course, had a long line. As soon as they had finished their business, the girls ran to the crowd just as VersaEmerge's intro music was coming on, and the concert had begun.

For those of you who have never heard of VersaEmerge, this author highly recommends that you go listen to them immediately. For those of you who have never gotten the chance to see them live, this author HIGHLY recommends that you do so as soon as you get the chance. They are pretty dang perfect live, and know how to get a crowd going, whether they like it or not.

VersaEmerge's set began with "Past Praying For," and ended with "Whisperer." Sierra and Ann shared many moments together from the stage, making intense eye-contact and finger-pointing during "The Authors," and singing to each other during another song. Ann felt very happy inside to be recognized as one of the few people singing along with every word. Unfortunately, some people did not enjoy the band as much as Ann did. A boy standing behind Ann was yelling that VersaEmerge was "a joke!" and that they couldn't wait for the next bands. Ann chose to leave this obnoxious boy and his friends in order to find her friend Amanda. While she found Amanda, she lost Samantha. After VersaEmerge's set was over (and Ann had experienced her favorite part of VE's set: At the end of "Whisperer," all four members in the front harmonize and sing the last few lines a capella... It's mezmerizing.), she went in search of Samantha, and found her safe and sound.

A Rocket to the Moon was next. None of the three girls had ever witnessed Nick Santino and his crew live, and they were very excited to do so. They kicked off their set with a cover of AC/DC's classic, "You Shook Me All Night Long," and transitioned straight into "If They Only Knew." All three of the girls greatly enjoyed El Rocket to la Luna (as John Cornelius O'Callaghan the 5th called them), and, in fact, during "Dakota," Samantha tapped Ann on the shoulder and proclaimed, "I LOVE this song!" Oh, Samantha. :)

The next band on the bill was the Maine. Now, for those of you who have never seen the Maine live, please understand one thing: THEIR. FANS. ARE. CRAZY. This author once fell down in a MOSH PIT while trying to enjoy the Maine. There is never a dull moment while watching the Maine, that is for sure.

While mentally preparing herself for the insanity that would surely ensue, Ann met a girl in the crowd who had been waiting to see the Maine for five years. Dear reader, five years ago this author was in sixth grade, and did not know that there were genres outside of "pop," "rap," "rock," and "country." And five years ago, dear, dear reader... This author preferred the latter. Continuing on with our story: As the Maine walked out onto the stage and the first few chords of "I Must Be Dreaming" were played, the crowd erupted. And by erupted, I literally mean that people lept into the air and immediately started shoving people into one another with violent force. Ann and Samantha were separated almost instantly. However, Ann proceeded to rock her face off.

The Maine always put on a great, energetic show. This show, however, was by far the most energetic that Ann had seen them- Especially dear John Cornelius O'Callaghan V... He was going crazy. And it was fantastic. :) They played some of their own songs, a cover of Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me," and a B-side of which I cannot currently remember the title of. They sounded great, and everyone was loving them. The Maine's final song was "Girls Do What They Want," featuring Buzznet's own Ellie! She did a great job, too. :)

Finally, it was time for the moment that Ann and Amanda were waiting for. COBRA. STARSHIP. They were one of Amanda and Ann's absolute favorite bands to see live, and anyone who has seen them live cannot deny their insane energy, stage presence, and ability to get the crowd OFF THEIR FEET. Oh, and were people off their feet. Everyone was going BATSHIP (Yes, I said "batship."), and by this, I don't mean in the same way that people were for the Maine (aka ZOMG LET'S BE SO HXC AND MOSH BECAUSE IT'S ANNOYING AND IRONIC!), but in a way that showed a genuine love for the band. And let me tell you- There was a lot of love. Everyone threw their fangs in the air and sang along to every word. The best song of the entire night HANDS DOWN was "Nice Guys Finish Last." 'Twas just simply fantastic. The two girls (along with many of the audiene members) shouted along: "Tell us what you want us to do now/ Tell us what you want us to do now!" The lights for Cobra Starship were also the best of the night. Strobes dominated the set, adding an intensity unlike any other. People were inducted into the Cobra gang, Gabe told stories, Ryland made fun of Gabe (see the video that will be uploaded shortly after this journal is posted), people Guilty-Pleasure-danced, and Gabe's hips moved. Oh, how they moved. The set ended with radio favorite "Good Girls Go Bad," with Victoria singing Leighton's part, and cutely messing up pretty badly. But it was all good with the Cobra Crew.

Boys Like Girls, the headliner of this tour, was up next. Now, please understand dear readers that Ann and Amanda are very big fans of the first and original BLG album. However, they are not fans of the new album, leaving them to be less excited to see this band. Please also understand that it is rather difficult to enjoy Martin Johnson when he is reminding you of a certain horse the way he runs around the stage with his guitar on his back and creepy faces. It just is. HOWEVER- The awesome that is Bryan Donahue on bass excited Ann a little more. They opened with a highly-over-autotuned version of "I Gotta Feeling," and went straight through to "Love Drunk." They sounded good, but people weren't really getting that into it. That is, until they played "Hero/Heroine." This was arguably Ann's favorite song from the first album, and she was very pleased to be hearing it live. EVERYONE was singing along, and everyone did sing along to all of the old songs. Until it got to "Dance Hall Drug."

By the time we had gotten to "Dance Hall Drug," eveyone was just kind of chill. Martin noticed, too. "Whoa, wait. Stop the music. There's no music here! Now we've played in Louisville before, and I know you can get more rowdy than this. I want a huge circle pit with EVERYONE in it, right here. GO!" Okay, that may have been paraphrased quite a bit, but that is what happened. So then there was a circle pit, and when the song started back up, it was more like ZOMG-HXC-DANCE-HALL-WE-ARE-ON-DRUGS. Seriously. Talk about breakdowns.

They played their songs, and did them well, but it was all finally coming to an end. But there was one more thing left to be done: "Now this is going to be our last song, and by the end of it, I want all of you to rush the stage and get up here!"
Capital O-M-G. Now, Ann and Amanda knew that this was coming, and they hoped that their long-lost friend Samantha would be able to get up there too. Neither of the girls payed attention to the song, because they were trying to get up there. And that's when it happened. Amanda crowd surfed. And got on stage. (And lost her phone... But that is another story for another time.) And then Ann tried to get onstage. Everyone was helping everyone out, but no one seemed to want to grab her hand and pull her up there. So she did it herself.

Do you know what that is, my friend? THAT is what it looks like from the stage. Oh yes.

And do you know what THIS is? THIS is Ann standing directly under/next to Hot Paul. OOOOH yes.

And that is how the concert ended. All three girls got onstage and jammed from up there. They couldn't believe it. Because it was a literal dream come true. To be on stage is like being a true rockstar. Jamming and jumping and loving and believing. Believing in the power of magic and dreams. And oh, how the three friends did.

So, the past... eh... Two weeks? have been spend working on this danged report, entitled "Music and Its Effects on People." I know- I'm SO good at titling things. But that's what it's about. Sounds easy, right? Haha- WRONG!

But I would like to personally thank Same as Sunday for providing me with fantastic tunes to research and type with. Seriously. Purevolume saves my myspaceless, music-got-deleted soul. Check 'em out sometime... I think they are on myspace somewhere... (Fail at band promotion... But I gotta rep my state! They're from Indy :]) But really... I loves them.

On another note, I'm still waiting on replies to my interview questions from a band... Once I get them (hopefully soon... It's been a WHILE.), I will post Episode 2 of my Music Corner.

On another another note... I DON'T HAVE SCHOOL TILL NEXT MONDAY! WHOO-HOO! I already have planned my return to school outfit. It's fantastic. And I have a rather evil plan to try to go to a Mayday Parade, The Dangerous Summer, and There For Tomorrow concert on December 5... We'll find out if that happens sometime this week...

ON ANOTHER ANOTHER ANOTHER NOTE: I am still going to do a write up on my experiences at the OP Presents Tour... Even though it was almost two weeks ago... I don't care. I want to do it, and I didn't get a chance to because of... Guess what? MY ESSAY.

Alright, well I think that's all I got for today... I guess I could tell you about my TERRIBLE Pre-Cal test score, but I'd rather forget about that. So, until we meet again-

Thank you for the late birthday wishes, firstly :D Yeaaaaaaaaaaah I will admit (on rare occasion) that Metro Station is a very big guilty pleasure and very easy to dance to. And mock. ;) Hahahaha I'm not sure if I can really tell you what the whoa-ee-ohs mean without saying it to your face, ya know? But let's put it this way... Two people, a boy and a girl, doing dirty things and literally saying "whoa-ee-oh-ee-oh-oh..." Yeah. That's for real. Creepy to the max. Quirks? ME TOO. Are you me in Texan Anelle form? haha But yeah- I suck my personality out sometimes too... Ummm... Weighlifting involves lifting weights, running, doing painful warmups, playing dodgeball, and the like. But yeah- we test at the end of each nine weeks by doing the max that we can on each of the three main things- Power clean, bench press, and squat. It's not very fun, but I'm getting some freaking cool muscles from it haha :) Stupidkidnames... Imma have to check that out to find some new names to name my kids in 20 years hahaha No, but their names are going to be Hayley Arielle and Gabriel something-or-other. Because I will have one boy and one girl, and that is how it will be. ;) That would be awesome. I'm also a'thinking that this epic concert poem needs to happen. NOW. And haha that's okay- You don't have to send it to me. My mom might get a little mad if I walked around with skeletons on me... She's weird that way. EXACTLY. I like making friends at concerts or by talking about a shirt because then I know I have something in common with them. Aaaand I have something REALLY GOOD to talk about, not like the weather or how many cats I have. I don't know... I guess I just think it's weird to wear skirts/dresses/flip flops/whatever else I said... Because people CAN take advantage of you and I think it would be uncomfortable. But to each his (or her) own. hahaha I don't think Panic! at the Disco existed when I was in 6th grade... Well... Maybe... But I definetly didn't know them then. I was still pretending to like rap and I legitemently liked country. And Avril Lavigne was my idol. :) haha I hate 6th grade... Yuck. I don't think 8 shows is bad at all. I'm going to my 7th on November 12!! Hooray! My dearest mommy and daddy bought me tickets to the Love Drunk tour for my birthday :) I'm pretty pumped about it. A 3.8 sounds pretty dang good to me either way! But I mean, I understand though. And that sucks about your dad's job situations. Lifeguarding sounds fun! Except for the, you know, guarding their lives part... haha Yeah, Honk! was the story of the ugly duckling... Kind of... haha I don't know, but it was really fun :) Gossamer... I'm definetely going to have to work that into my everyday vocabulary! Well, the play opens in like three weeks, giving us about 15 or so actual practice days. And we are NO WHERE NEAR being ready. It's going to be a disaster. Personally, I wish they would just pull the plug on it. It's going to be terrible anyway. :| I don't know if parent taught driver's ed was an option for me... Probably not. And I mean, the class is... Well, let's just face it- it sucks. But oh well. It's once a week. A blot on music history... That is a very good way of putting it. Screw them. And brokencyde. And Millionaires. And Dot Dot Curve. <

Are You Feeling It? 'Cause I'M FEELING IT!

TIME: about 4:00 pm

PLACE: Cloud 9

At 4:00 pm, I was leaving to go see three of the most amazing bands EVER: Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Blink 182.

I do not think that it is possible to explain my elation.

ANYWAYS- The hour-and-a-half car ride up to Indy was spent loudly jamming out and getting stoked. We hit some traffic, and ended up getting there about a half hour after the doors opened. We (meaning me, my sister, and my dad) RAN to get to the lawn, fearing that it would be full.

But it was about the furthest thing from full.

And I was shocked.

So we got right up in front of the lawn, but we were somehow still further back than we were for Paramore and No Doubt. ::shrug:: Oh well. I was excited.

So my sister and I decided that we wanted to look around. There's like, a little village almost surrounding the stage, and we had never seen it before. Plus, the last time we were there, my dad said that there was a band playing. :D So we checked it out. We got down there, saw the band, saw the old guy with the long white hair and matching long white beard (and by long, I mean past his butt, dudes), and turned right back around.

Yeaaaaaaah.

So let's skip to the music, shall we?

Chester French was first.
And they were... Well, let's face it, they weren't very good. Their harmonies were way off, and it was pretty much a jumbled mess. Plus, I got turned off as soon as I heard the line "She wants affection, so I use protection."

You have got to be kidding me.
You're not?
Oh.

However, their first show ever was in Indy, so I thought that was kinda cool. Plus, at the end of their last song, they broke out into "I just died in your arms toniiiiiiiight!!!!!!" and everyone was singing along. I thought that was pretty cool :)

NEXT was Panic! at the Disco.
I have never seen P!ATD, but have wanted to since 8th grade... Needless to say I was stoked out of my mind. What made it even better was that IAN CRAWFORD was playing with them! How sweet is that??!!

They opened up with "Time to Dance," and OH, did I dance. Not very many people were singing along, but there was this dude behind me singing with every word, which I thought was pretty cool :)

Why HELLO Ian!

I called my friend during "Lying is the Most Fun...," because she ALWAYS calls me when she goes to concerts without me, and I wanted to return the favor. So while I'm screaming "LET'S GET THESE TEEN HEARTS BEATING FASTER, FASTER!," she probably was too. :)
When it was time for "New Perspective," Brendon dedicated it to Megan Fox because she's naked in the new movie.

Oh, Brendon.

But their guitars were having problems, so they skipped that song. And Mark Hoppus came out and fixed their guitarssss... Yes he did.
When they came back to "New Perspective," Brendon was mad because he had already made a big dedication to Megan Fox and everything. SO he dedicated it to Shia LeBeouf instead! Because he "looks good naked too!"

You go, Brendon. You go.
(Actually credit to that one goes to their guitarist... Who's name escapes me at the moment.)

Awwww, BFFS!

They closed with "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," and I'm pretty sure that everyone in the house was screaming "NO!" after Brendon sang, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the G-- damn door?!" It was flippin' amazing, to say the least :)
I am a considerably happier person now that I have finally seen my beloved Panic! at the Disco, and I canNOT wait to see them again. Hopefully I'll be a little closer next time ;)

THIRDLY was Fall Out Boy.

Now for those of you who don't know, FOB is my second favorite band. EVER. You got it? :) This was my second time seeing them, and I was very, VERY happy! Especially because I don't know if I'll ever get to see them again. Well, I know it will be a very long time at least.

They opened up with "Sugar, We're Goin' Down."
Yes they did.
I'm pretty sure I did not stop moving during their entire set.
Talk about fun.

They unexpectedly played "I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy...," and I was even MORE happy, if that's even possible! However, the best part of the show was when Pete asked us if we wanted to hear "The Take Over, The Break's Over," or a really old, really fun song.

Naturally, we picked the old song.
And do you know what it was?

It was a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'!" FEATURING Brendon Urie!
Everyone there was singing along like there was no tomorrow. I almost couldn't hear the band! It was amazing, and definetly a hightlight of the night. I wish I could relive it again! And again, and again, and again...

Anyways- They ended with "Saturday," as tradition goes, and Pete told people to come up on stage.
But they didn't. ::shrug::
I would've jumped up there in a heartbeat! But maybe that's just me :)

Last, but most CERTAINLY not least, was the one- the only- BLINK 182.

I really don't even know where to begin.
Well, yes I do.
"Dumpweed." That's where it began.
And then "Feeling This."
And then happiness. Complete happiness.
Everyone was SO HAPPY. I mean, I could feel the happiness in between the two large mosh pits I was standing in the middle of. Everyone sang along to every song, and no one was motionless.
This was my first time ever seeing them- They broke up when I was in, like, 7th grade!

I'm honestly trying to think of things to say... But I'm speechless. If someone had gone to the show not knowing that Blink 182 had broken up on bad terms and then come back together- They would have NEVER been able to tell. Their chemistry was fantastic. Like this little moment right here:

Oh yeah, and let it be known that Tom DeLonge is NOT GAY. Just sayin' haha :)

But they joked with each other all night, talked about how amazing Travis is, made fun of Indiana and the Indiana-ins, and oh yeah, there was some music in there ;)

And OH MY GOD- Travis Barker flew.

Well, just let me assure you, he was flying alright.

Like I said, I have no other words. They sounded great, they made me laugh, and they fufilled a lot of people's dreams.

Highlights?

Hmmmmmm...
- Hearing "Feeling This." I was so super stoked to hear it as soon as I knew that I was going. I love that song.
- Tom insulting Mark and Mark replying with "Well ya know what? I just think you need to GO AWAY TO COLLEGE!" And then they played it. And I loved it immensely.
- The insane insanity during "Adam's Song" and "All the Small Things."
Whoa.
- Tom burped loudly into the microphone during a song... Yeah. XD
- Travis flying, obviously.
- Tom putting on yellow sunglasses that made him "look like Gabe Saporta," according to Mark.
- Hearing "Dammit" live. That song is THE. BOMB. I cannot express my love for it in words. They ended the show with it, and Mark finished everything off with a song- "Indianapolis, we love you." And Tom did sign language... Kind of. :)

I guess it's kind of insulting to pick out which songs I enjoyed hearing the most, because, really, I enjoyed hearing every one of them. A LOT. So here's the set list so you can imagine for yourself:

To sum everything up, I had a wonderful time and would highly suggest you see these bands if they come near you- You won't regret it! (Well, unless you see Chester French... Then you might...)

I will surely never forget this concert.

Where I Want to Be- The Dangerous Summer

Firstly, thank you SO MUCH for checking this out for me. It really means a lot :) SO NOW on to my song of the summer. Where I Want to Be by the Dangerous Summer. Okay, okay- Yes, they have "summer" in their name, but that's not why I chose this song. I had compiled about ten songs that I considered my songs of the summer, and played them all in a row. I guess this was a little biased because I pretty much knew which one I would want. After playing the songs, this one just stuck out to me, like, "pick me! pick me!" So I had to! Well, that and the fact that I think I would definetly consider this my "song of the summer." I don't think it's technically a summery song, but go listen to it- I dare you. Now get the CD or burn the song to a CD. Now go sit in the car. Roll the windows down. Turn it up as loud as you can without causing permanent damage to your hearing. Just sit back, relax, and listen. "And there is something in your face that pulls me far enough away. I guess that I always knew that I'd find you when I thought I reached my point, I let them down. I slept in the worst part of this town. You are my song and you are where I wanna be." Do you feel it now? It's got the passion. It's got the summer feel-good feeling. It's got it all. I love this song immensely. And I love the Dangerous Summer. Their music is the kind that you can just listen to and feel so much. You can feel the pain, the hope, the love, everything. Thank you for reading this, again. I hope you listen to this song, I know you'll love it :) And Buzznet- You are my song, and you are where I want to be.

So... This was meant to be a note for Anelle (and I probably just spelled that wrong... Sorry!), so EYES OFF! haha Not really- But you probably won't understand what's going on. (I'm not even sure if I know what's going on! XD)

OKAY- Here goes nothing (finally! sorry :( ) Hahaha that sucks... A cat? That would just make him more of a lyrical "genius" than he already is! My friends were wondering about the song "I Wish We Were Older," the part that just goes "whoa-ee-oh-ee-oh-oh" ya know? They asked him if it was just filler or if it meant something... And oh it meant something alright. And it made me dislike them even more. (No offense if you like them, though!) Ugh. I hate when you are with people you don't really know or just met and they don't understand you... I always make myself feel like an idiot because I do things that are totally normal for me and my friends, but THEY just. don't. get. it. It bothers me too. :( But whatever! Their loss! haha Actually, I don't know if they are really losing anything... Hahaha Oh man that sucks. I don't know how I would be able going to a seperate school from my best friends... I can barely handle school with my best friends! haha But we started on Wednesday, and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I mean, a couple of my classes are awkward, but I think they'll get better as they go. Weightlifting, however, will remain suckish and painful and awkward all semester. I'm freaking getting out of there as soon as the dang semester is over. I've had it for three days and I'm alreays in ooooodles of pain and torture. I HATE WEIGHTLIFTING! Ugh. ANYWAYS! haha And holy cow if summer were endless I'd be the happiest person ever. Only, maybe not, because my best friend lives in Canada during the summer... So... she should come home sometimes haha :) That sucks about the name thing. That would be a little annoying. But I mean, at least it's a cool one, and not something strange like... Okay I'm trying to think of a horrible weird name but I got nothing right now haha but yeah... I'm not really sure why my aunt spells my name wrong... I never asked! lol And you better look! Maybe I will write you a special concert poem that you are welcome to plagerize and we can share it :) That would actually be really funny. And, uh, the poem would be very dramatic and of the epic variety. Yes. Oh and I definetly do that too. Hahaha I wanted an MCR shirt SO BAD when I was in 8th grade... I thought I was hot sh*t! lol But I still do love them, I won't deny that at all :) And oh how do I love band shirts? Let me count the ways... And that's why I love them! Because no one understands and I feel special haha But that really is part of why I like them. And I love when people are like "oh that band is good!" or something. I feel like I'm immediately connected to that person in some weird, musical and twisted way, ya know? And I don't think anyone actually took my inhaler, I think it just fell out of my pocket amidst the chaos. Because it was pretty chaotic. I DO NOT and will NEVER understand why people wear flip flops, dresses, skirts, heels, or anything of that nature to concerts. That's just begging for something bad to happen, imo. And gosh, yeah- Time flies!! Hahahaha I remember 6th grade... it was pretty awful, actually :( lol And I'd kill myself if I had to just sit in a tiny cubicle for hours on end... I need to do something creative too. Haha well, there is little chance of me going to see either of those bands, so I think I'm in good shape :) But seeing Garrett and Pat is always a plus! Especially Garrett.... lol ;) Ummm... I'm trying to think... I've only been to two shows on school nights, well three on Thursday!! But I've only been to five shows period (so far), so yeah. Which makes me sound really pathetic... People are always like "yeah you've been to a million!" and I'm just like suuuuuuuuuuuuure hahaha But I really am a pro at concert-going, I promise :) Haha thanks, I'm pretty proud of it :) But my school is SUPER competitive too, like you have no idea. And it's even worse considering the fact that there are only about 70 kids in my grade. So the top 10 is all REALLY close. Like #1 and #2 are separated by like, 1/100 of a point or something. The top 5 is all 3.9 something. It's crazy! And that's cool. I'm glad you get your "luxuries." :) And I mean, I'm not like, dirt poor or anything- It's just that my dad's a truck driver, so we never really know what kind of paycheck he'll get and stuff like that. And there's alway something that comes up and happens causing more issues... So yeah, it sucks, but sometimes my dad gets bonuses and stuff, which is good :D haha But yeah same here. They don't buy my personal fun stuff either, unless, like you said- a reward or holiday or something along those lines. Awww! Bad mom award! haha jk But I think I'm going to get an application and then hold onto it until I actually turn 16 next month. Ehhh I don't know if I'd want to work at Chik-a-Fil either. Yeaaaaaah, and tryouts for the play are on Tuesday... And I have no idea what to sing for my audition :O But the last few shows I've been in were: "Frank's Life" (like the Truman Show), "Some Like it Hot," and "Honk!," which was about the ugly duckling. Soooooo yeah. Yeah, I like acting too. (Obviously! haha) AUSTIN! okay. haha :P Aww and I'm sorry that they didn't come to you. That sucks! But I go tomorrow! Yay for me! haha Not to rub it in your face! I felt mean :( DAAAAATES! They came, they went, I might be going. 'Cause they're coming to Louisville!! Are they coming to Austin? Ummm what's a gossamer? Oh, fluglehorn.

The Music Corner - Episode 1

Well as you may or may not know, I wanted to start a music blog featuring bands that I want you to know!
I asked for your feedback, and some of you gave it!

So here we are :)

Welcome to the Music Corner.

Here I will be featuring a new band every now and then... A band that you need to go listen to now! :)
I will try to do this as often as I can, but there are several factors that kind of control when I can get one up, so be patient :)
I'm going to give you a bunch of information on the featured band, and will sometimes interview them! Each "epidsode" (That's what I'm calling them... It just sounds so fun and reminds me of Star Wars. :D) will probably be different than the last, so be prepared! :)

So let's get this show on the road!

Episode 1: The Monster Goes Rawrr!!
Rock If You Like: Forever the Sickest Kids, The Cab, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco (A Fever You Can't Sweat Out era), Cash Cash, All Time Low

This creatively named band hails from Brisbane, Australia, and consists of six awesome people.
From left to right: David Soole- drums; Max Weines- vocals; Adam Kremer- guitar; Brendan Dunstan- guitar; Benson Wilemse- bass; and Alexandria Savva- keys

The Monster Goes Rawrr!! combines rock, powerpop, and funky beats to create great dance tunes. But the best part about TMGR!! is that there is a very happy marriage between the rock and electronic elements. A lot of bands tend to lean towards one or the other of the styles, but The Monster Goes Rawr!! prefers to use both, making them listenable for a multitude of different people.

What's even cooler about these guys(and girl!) is their love for their fans and listeners. All of their songs are currently up for free download on their PureVolume page and they reply to all comments and messages. I think that it's fantastic that they take the time to do this. Not many bands do always reply, but when they do it means a lot. Speaking of replying (like that segway?!), I recently asked them to answer some questions for this very segment, and they answered!

My name is David Soole and I am the drummer and act as the manager for the time being.

1.) How/ when did the Monster Goes Rawrr!! come together? Most of the members had played in other bands together and we all knew of each other, with the exception of Alexandria (Savva). I had quit a band and was really looking to try and start a band that mixed rock with all different forms of electronica genres. I'd asked Brendan and Max if they were interested about 6 months prior and at the time they couldn't due to other committments. Later when they were ready they made a few demos and then asked if I was keen. Benson and Adam were already on board at that stage and I was very keen so thats when it all started. We then searched for a keyboardist for a few months while we wrote more tracks and luckily found Savva. It was perfect coz we really wanted a female keyboardist who could sing. It really couldn't have worked out any better.

2.) How did you come up with your name? I had thought of the name before I even joined. There is no real meaning behind it, I just wanted a name that was fun and different and that people would remember.

3.) How would you describe TMGR!!'s sound? Developing. We are still trying to find the right mix between rock and all the other genres we want to experiment with. We have the equipment (keyboards and electric drum kit) to do some really different things, and we keep pushing ourselves to try something new. We are slowly adding more and more to the songs and I think they will only get more and more experimental and eclectic.

4.) Who and/or what are influences on the band? We are heavily influenced by bands like Forever The Sickest Kids, Fall Out Boy and all the other big alternative bands in the scene but we have wide and ranging musical tastes outside of these genres which adds to the way we put together our music.

5.) What bands are you all currently listening to? Personally, I am always listening to FTSK. But I also love Lets Get It at the moment and am listening to a lot of dance, trance and rnb too for inspiration.

6.) What are your goals for the band? Like any band we want to tour Australia, play with international bands touring the country and one day make it overseas to play shows. We want to stick around and make a career out of music. We don't want to be a fad band.

7.) Do you have any plans for future recordings and releases? Just to keep writing tracks and then make them freely downloadable. We record the songs ourselves at next to no cost so we like to pass that onto our fans. It also helps get out music out there more.

8.) What would TMGR!!'s dream tour be? FTSK, Fall Out Boy and Blink 182.

9.) Do you currently have any tours planned? Not yet. Just going to start with some local shows, but we'd like to organise one for early 2010 down the east coast of Australia.

10.) What is something that we should know about TMGR!!? That we will put on a very different live show to what you are used to when you go and see a local band. We have four singers (3 male, 1 female), mulitple keyboards and an electric drumkit. We replicate a lot of the sounds you hear in the recordings when we play live so you can expect to go from a rock kit to a techno/dance kit withing secs and hear sub drops and samples. Plus we like to get sideways on stage!

11.) If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be? :) Dolphin. They are just so cool and seem to always be having so much fun!

Let's Try Something... MUSICAL!

Hello there! So, there's something that I've always wanted to do, and I think that Buzznet is a good place to do it.

I would like to do a section about bands that I think you need to know about RIGHT NOW.
Bands that are so good that I just want to scream to the world, "GO LISTEN!"
Sound good?
I think so :)

But I'm wondering if people will want something like this from me.

I know that some people already do stuff like this, and I'm not trying to copy them. This is something that I've always wanted to do, and Buzznet is a place of musical findings and news, is it not!?! :)

OKAY- But anyways- I want your opinion.
Anyone who happens to read this.

Here are some of the things that I would like to try to include:

- Talk to/interview bands

- Give information on current and future releases from bands

- Links to websites

- Information on tours/shows

How does all of this sound to you? Would you like to see me do something like this? Or are you more content on finding music on your own? Please be honest! I just don't want to do something if no one will bother with it.

Into Your AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRMSSSS

Yesterday, THE MAINE put out a very anticipated new video for "Into Your Arms."

Did you watch it?

If not... GO NOW!

Because this is all about said video, and I do not want to give away any good moments, ya know?

So let us begin.

The video starts out a little like this:

OH wait... No it doesn't. :)
But wouldn't that be funny?

So it really starts like this:

CUE: DRAMATIC EFFECT!

We see John Cornelius O'Callaghan V playing a piano against a light yellow sunset.

Then we see this:

WHAT COULD IT BE?!

A.) a monster running to eat John Oh
B.) a shadow monster running from the light
C.) just a girl... running in the dark...

ANSWER?!

A.) This answer is unlikely as... Well, you will see below
B.) This answer is unlikely as everyone knows shadow monsters don't exist! Or do they?
C.) DING DING DING! As stupid as running in the dark is, this is the correct answer.

So, we move on.

Now you see a picture, previously ripped into pieces, being put back together.
Hmm.
What does the picture form?

A.) Vicky-T. Just look at the hair!
B.) Absolutely nothing. It's just random pieces of paper put together. Duh.
C.) It's just a girl in the world... (This works if you sing it like Gwen Stefani :))

MAN- they found some great actors to play those airplanes. I mean, it's hard to find someone who can pull that off!

So thus ends the video. Though the concept has been done before (see The Academy Is... "Everything We Had" and some David Cook song, along with others), but I like this video. It's cute. It's well... produced? I don't know- it looks good.
However, I did notice something that bothered me.

It may bring on nightmares.
